Where tablets are applied

Drop into flowing, mixed or aerated wastewater — never into chlorination, ozone or oxidant dosing points.

  1. 1Upstream

    Lift stations & wet wells

Where odour, septic conditions or FOG are present, part of the daily dose.

  2. 2Main dose

    EQ outlet / biological inlet

Equalisation tank outlet or the biological reactor inlet.

  3. 3Mixed zones

    Aeration & RAS

Near diffusers or aerators, or the return activated sludge channel.

Application guidance

Daily product dose, in kg per 1,000 m³/day of average influent flow (≈ per 1 MLD). Indicative ranges from the manufacturer's sheet — your site-specific protocol and the product label govern.

Start-up or biological recovery
1.0–1.5 kg/day per 1 MLD
Severe organic shock, odour or FOG
2.0–3.0 kg/day per 1 MLD, for 5–7 days
Routine maintenance (stable operation)
0.5 kg/day per 1 MLD
High-load or variable wastewater
up to 1.0 kg/day per 1 MLD

For start-up or recovery, the initial dose runs ≈10–14 days, then is reviewed against plant performance.

Literature evidence

Published research on sulfide-oxidizing bacteria

One species in ABOLISH, Paracoccus pantotrophus, has been studied for hydrogen sulfide removal. Two peer-reviewed papers on strain NTV02 reported these ranges.

These studies used P. pantotrophus NTV02 in gas-treatment biotrickling filters, not ABOLISH tablets in a WWTP. They support the biological rationale; they do not establish Abolish performance or predict results at your plant.

2017 study

96.3–96.7%

Biotrickling filter, synthetic biogas, inlet 150–400 ppmv; pH 8 adjusted daily; recirculation medium refreshed every 48 h.

2019 study

98.3–99.7%

Biotrickling filter with plastic packing, 120 s EBRT, 3.6 L/h recirculation; inlet 300–1,500 ppmv.

A monitored site trial

Response depends on mixing, dissolved oxygen, pH and loading. We assess with measurements, not smell alone.

  1. 01

    Baseline

Record H₂S with gas monitors and your normal operating data before dosing.

  2. 02

    Apply & observe

Dose to an agreed protocol while keeping the same monitoring and operating records.

  3. 03

    Review

Compare quantitative H₂S data and records with the baseline, then decide together.

Keep existing gas monitoring, safety procedures and plant controls in place throughout.
